Description

Spieleschreiber – games knowledge since 1984

History

What is Spieleschreiber

Spieleschreiber is basically me, Richard Löwenstein. I´m participating in the games industry since my teen days in 1984. The german word Spieleschreiber ("gamesauthor") roughly describes what I do within this industry: Developing computergames and writing about them. This press subdomain focuses on my retro game development activities. Further info about my editorial and producing services can be found on my main website

The old days

The first game which I got published is called "Let´s bounce" and appeared in the german magazine Happy Computer as a type-in listing. After that I developed a couple of commercial releases, mainly on the Commodore 64. The jump´n run "Twinky goes hiking" was a big hit due to its two player splitscreen action. "North Sea Inferno" was loved by players all around the world and got some big press in Germany, mainly because it was banned due to its "brutal" gameplay. I stopped developing games after joining the Amiga Joker magazine in 1991

The modern days

In 2015 I ressurected my old hardware collection and started games production again. The first fruits of labour is called Reshoot and was my dream come true: Develop, produce and publish at least one shoot´em-up for the Amiga platform. I architectured my own hybrid development system based on modern Mac-tools and an classic Amiga 1200 hardware. The selfdeveloped games engine which I began coding in 1990 (and put on hold shortly thereafter) was heavily modified for Reshoot; and is again even more heavily modified for RESHOOT R
